My name is Michael E. and I am a patient of Dr. Suway. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea a little over a year ago. My doctor, recommended an oral device since I am an airline pilot. This is the very first device I have used and he recommended I visit Dr. Suway to get fitted for an oral appliance.
The entire process of being a patient with Dr. Suway has been extremely rewarding. He makes you feel like part of his office family instead of a patient. I felt I was in the hands of a consummate professional extremely experienced and knowledgeable about the device and the fitting process. At no time was the experience uncomfortable or painful. I went back for numerous fittings and each time the visit went well as Dr. Suway strived to get the perfect fit for my mouth and airway.
I have been wearing the device for a little less than a year and it has changed my life in a very positive manner. I have been sleeping much better and I am dreaming again, which I haven’t done in many years. I wake with better energy and focus. Since this is the first device I have tried for sleep apnea I can’t compare it to any CPAP machines or other devices on the market. I just know it works for me.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 5 years ago. I was sleeping 14 hours a day and still felt exhausted all the time. I knew that I snored but still didn't really believe I had this condition. A sleep study confirmed that I did.
After learning what it meant to have sleep apnea I became a committed patient. I realized the problem was more than just being tired. The risk of stroke and cardiovascular implications were of major concern to me.
When the doctor told me that I had to use a CPAP machine every night I didn't argue, even though I hated everything about it. I hated the noise, the getting tangled up in the hoses, that constant cleaning and refilling. I hated the way the mask would shift and wake you up with a horrific noise. I love to travel and the machine was so cumbersome that I left it home after the first trip.
Then my pulmonary doctor recommended I consider an oral appliance and sent me to Dr. Suway. I did a little research before the first appointment and had numerous questions. Dr. Suway took the time to explain the mechanics of what he intended to do and answered all my questions. It sounded too good to be true.

I have no idea how long I have had sleep apnea, but once diagnosed after a sleep study, I attempted to use a C-PAP. I was not successful with it, probably because I am moderately claustrophobic. Knowing an oral device was an alternative treatment, I found Dr. Suway’s website, contacted his office, and had my sleep study results sent there. Dr. Suway ordered a custom fitted oral device for me and I immediately noticed a decrease in my snoring, more restful sleep and a pronounced decrease in TMJ discomfort.
I am now on my second device. There was no discomfort in the procedure for the custom fitting since Dr. Suway used an imaging procedure rather than creating a mold. I have now been wearing a device for 4 years and am pleased that I have improved sleep without the use of an awkward C-PAP.
Dr. Suway and his staff are wonderful to work with. He is very knowledgeable and also compassionate in his desire to improve the sleep experience of his patients. I would recommend that others try an oral device for moderate sleep apnea.

My pulmonologist determined that the CPAP was making my sleep apnea worse and suggested I try an oral appliance. Where the CPAP made my breathing difficult and caused countless sleepless nights, the oral appliance is comfortable, greatly improves my breathing, and my sleep is so much better. From creating the custom scans to fitting the appliance, the entire process was absolutely painless. The oral appliance is a significant improvement over the CPAP and I can’t imagine sleeping without it.

Dr. Suway and his team are absolutely incredible. I always feel comfortable and informed with every step of the process that I've had in general routine cleanings and also fixing cracked teeth, etc. Just recently went during these COVID times and I've never seen a place so clean, well maintained, and at the forefront of leveraging new technology and tools to keep me safe. Special masks, machines to pull and filter air, etc. It was truly amazing! Super recommend this practice to anyone and everyone, but especially those that are concerned with seeing a dentist during COVID.
